September 2026 Video Game Releases

September 2026 is shaping up as one of the busiest months of the year for new video games. Publishers appear to be clustering major titles ahead of larger holiday releases later in the year, delivering a strong mix of AAA action, RPGs, horror, sports, and indies across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and Switch 2.

The month opens strongly. On September 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. This dark fantasy action RPG from Rebel Wolves (founded by former The Witcher 3 talent) features vampire-themed open-world gameplay and story-driven combat. The same period brings Orbitals (Switch 2 co-op adventure) and Onimusha: Way of the Sword (multiplatform, including Switch 2), Capcom’s revival of the classic samurai action series with modern visuals and swordplay. NBA 2K27 also arrives around September 4 for basketball fans.

Mid-month highlights include Halloween: The Game (September 8, asymmetrical multiplayer horror on major platforms) and the full 1.0 release of Valheim (September 9), the popular Viking survival game expanding to more consoles. Sports continue with NHL 27.

The biggest exclusive lands on September 15: Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games’ highly anticipated PS5-only action-adventure starring the clawed mutant. The same day sees RuneScape: Dragonwilds expand to consoles. Later that week, Nintendo fans get Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (Switch 2 exclusive tactical RPG) alongside Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV (PC strategy).

Late September packs even more. Dune: Awakening arrives on consoles around September 22. On September 24, Remedy’s Control Resonant (supernatural action RPG) and Silent Hill: Townfall (psychological horror) both launch. EA Sports FC 27 follows shortly after for football fans, and the month closes with Minecraft Dungeons II (co-op dungeon crawler) around September 29.
