What began over two years ago as iterative tinkering has evolved into a masterclass in extreme DIY aerodynamics and propulsion.Central to the V4's success is its single-piece frame, printed on a Bambu Lab H2D dual-extruder printer using a mix of PETG, carbon-fiber-reinforced PA6-CF, and flexible TPU. This larger build volume allowed seamless integration—no joints or seams to disrupt airflow—yielding smoother contours and superior surface finish after sanding and polishing the carbon composite.Aerodynamic gains came from extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations on the user-friendly AirShaper platform. Iterations refined the body shape for minimal drag, reduced flow separation, and optimized pressure distribution around motors and props. Hardware upgrades included 900 kV T-Motor 3120 brushless motors (up from 800 kV) for higher RPMs, and propellers trimmed to ~6 inches for better high-speed efficiency.
